How is Hwarangdo different from other styles of Taekwondo?

Many styles of taekwondo nowadays focus heavily on the sports style.  These styles will suit people who are looking to compete in tournaments.  The sports style of taekwondo involves players to wear a red/blue chest guard, a head guard and other forms of protective equipment.  Players then compete on a points based system.

Whilst Hwarangdo has specialised programs for students who are interested in tournament sparring, Hwarangdo draws from ancient combat techniques and we mainly focus on self defence and the martial art way.
