Clean Up Australia Day 2009

Australians have again demonstrated that they have an extraordinary spirit in taking action to help their communities and the environment, with a huge turn-up for Clean Up Australia Day 2009, helping their local environment, by collecting and removing rubbish around their communities.

Micheal Lebnan, a member of the Blacktown Hwarangdo, recently joined hundreds of thousands of other volunteers from around Australia to help do his part for the environment.

Micheal participated with other volunteers around the Sydney area to help clean up Berowra Waters, Hornsby, about 35kms north of Blacktown, NSW.

Setting off early, Micheal's group kayaked down Berowra Waters collecting and removing rubbish from the waterway. Whilst, taking in the stunning views of the river and wildlife, Micheal and his team, spent the day removing plastic bottles, bags, and other types of rubbish from the area.

"It's disappointing to see a lot of plastic bags, glass bottles, and various other objects which have been littered by various people." Micheal said. "It was amazing how much fun we had, while helping the environment at the same time."

Micheal is looking forward to being involved again next year.

Congratulations Micheal!
