The Academy Camp 2010
After two days of blood, sweat and tears the TITANS emerged victorious for the second time in a row to claim The Academy Team trophy, upsetting the heavily favoured Phoenix Team, who are still yet to win the coveted trophy. A combination of shear willpower and display of skills by the Titans allowed them to conquer the talented Phoenix and skilled Dragons teams.
Since the highly successful camp in 2007 at Bribie Island, Director Lionel Graham has been meticulously planning the next Training camp, looking for the improvement to allow students and instructors to reach even higher levels. A decision to make the majority of the weekend based on Weapons Training was initially though to be too difficult, especially with the number of children attending.
With careful planning however, it was a resounding success with messages of congratulations and support flooding in after the weekend via email, text and phone from students and parents who attended and watched the display of instruction, skills, competitions and demonstrations.
Not only were the weapons skills developed skilfully and safely, but all teams demonstrated their new found weapons skills in tightly coordinated routines developed by the Clan Chiefs. All other forms of competition also occurred including athletic skills, taekwondo sparring competitions, pattern competitions, self defence competitions, and also games for the children.
The whole weekend was scored for the 3 teams Dragons, Phoenix and Titans for the over winning team to be presented with the Clan Trophy. A massive 25kg 1.3 meter tall monstrosity designed and built for the camp in 2007. Won by the Dragons initially, but now owned by the Titans two events in a row.
