Hwarangdo Christmas Party - 2008

Over 100 people had turned up to the annual Hwarangdo Christmas party on the 13th December, 2008. There was lots of food, games and surprises on the day. Everyone had a great time.

HRD Santa’s Helpers had met up at ten in the morning, turning the gym to a Christmas wonderland. What first looked like a training gym turned into a marvellous decorated gym, with tinsel, bells and signs to give it the Christmas feel.

The day was hot and humid, but what is an Aussie Christmas without the sun blazing right? It was ‘gold’. Had the BBQ going at the back. The event started at 6pm with students from all HRD branches, not only did the students come, but also they brought along their families as well to enjoy the HRD Christmas spirit. One parent said "It was wonderful to see everyone united and together to bring out what Christmas is all about".

Many games were played on the day, dogdeball was the favourite to all, even if the kids didn’t play by the rules. It was fun to see a lot of sweat, tears and smiles. Korean wrestling was again another favourite with boys and girls wrestling around trying to knock each other on the ground. Final game we played was the pinata, we did it differently every year, students had to kick or punch it and once it fell apart, it was like a mad rush to get as much goodies as they could - filling every pocket they had.

We watched a film clip of Master Kim when he was young, he is still young now but when he was younger. Everyone was oooo’ing and ahhh’ing at it. It was awesome to see people being inspired by Master Kim and the instructors; some of the kids said "I'm going to be just like him" or "you’re my favourite hero" and it’s great that HRD projects good role models within the HRD community.

Every year the Christmas seems to get bigger and better. More families and the students are turning up enjoy a great time together. Christmas is not about presents, food or just having fun. Its about family, unity and loyalty to your families.

Did I mention that the food was YUMMM!~
